According to Hindu mythology, Yudhishtir the eldest brother of Pandavas has departed to heaven from here.   


Sonprayag is located in the route of Kedarnath and in between Rudraprayag and Gaurikund. Sonprayag is 8 km from Gaurikund and easily reach through by taxi or bus from Rudraprayag. The nearest railway station to Sonprayag is Dehradun.
